The 7 Children of Alfred & Amelia nee Drake Parchment. Born 1888-1905 , only 4 survived infancy.

The first 4 were all born in Canada. The family travelled back to England in 1896 - from Portland Nova Scotia to Liverpool aboard the Mongolian, arriving there 9/3/1896

1907. Oswald Parchment enlisted in the Durham Light Infantry, his occupation tea packer, being then in 2 Tower Hamlets URC, aged 18 years 7 mths, on 21/4/1907 and was in Newcastle upon Tyne 3 days later. His family's address then was 7 Black Swan Yard, Bermondsey Street, Bermondsey. Then discharged as medically unfit [ no reason given]on 30/10/1907; his intended place of residence being 20 Somerford Houses, Somerford St., B.G. [source FMP].

1910. Oswald Parchment, 21, married Isabella Rose Huddle, 22, on 31/07/1910 in St. Matthews, Bethnal Green. His sister, Theodora was a witness. He was then a carman. Address 179 Valance Road.

Oswald & Isabella had 2 children: Oswald Parchment Sep 1911-1911 & Gladys I Parchment 1913 [ thiought Peter Bathe, Ancestry was connected to her - but how?: she never married]. Gladys I Parchment died 1967 Jun Waltham Forest .

1914-15. Oswald Parchment enlisted in Shoreditch , his residence then being given as Bethnal Green, into the Wilts Reg. fairly early on in the war- his number being 678 [ source:UK, Soldiers killed in the Great War] - and then transferred to the 7th Batt. Royal Dublin Fusiliers, number 14990[source FMP]. He was killed in Gallipoli 16/8/1915, and is remembered on the Helles Memorial. Could not find a Service record for him on Ancestry- must have been destroyed in the Blitz. The 7th batt. went ashore at Suvla Bay on 7/8/1915. There was chaos and not even their officers had any maps. Heavy casualties ensued and the War Diary was not written up for 4 days . After an attack on 15/8 in which 21 officers and 532 others started, a counter attack by the Turks armed with grenades left only 10 officers and 375 others to be withdrawn on 17/8: see David's Royal Dublin Fusiliers site- www.dublin-fusiliers.com.

1911C. Alfred Parchment, 48 coffee house keeper, Amelia 46, Theodora M 19 working at home, Eleanor 11., living at 30 Pedley Street B.G., 4 rooms plus shop. They had been married 22 yrs & had 7 children, 3 of whom had died.

1913. Theodora Parchment married Richard Lewis, 27/07/1913, in St.Andrews, B.G., witnesses being her father ,sister Ruth and brother Oswald Augustus ; Richard was a carman, she a machinist. They had 5 children: Ronald Richard Lewis 1916-1919, Betty Evelyn Lewis 1920 - 1968, Joan Marjorie Lewis 1922-2012, Reginald Lewis 1925-1990 & Geoffrey Lewis 1928. Richard Lewis died 1938 She died in Poplar in 1970, aged 79. A Ron Scorey has an Ancestry tree with Richard & Theodora Lewis the parents of the  tree owner:  he seems to be the son of  Betty.  Found this 16/10/2012 and have sent a message.

Geoffrey Lewis wrote a wonderful book 'Behind the Walls' about his gg great uncle James Parchment 1792, which started my fascination/addiction of the Parchment dynasty! I am in snailmail contact with Geoffrey.

4 . . . . . . . . . . .Ruth Mulbery Parchment . She is given as born Canada,1895, but was baptised 5/04/1896 , St.Andrews,Tower Hamlets, father a carman, parents address 55 Viaduct Street [ where his widowed mother Charlotte still living in 1891C & 1901C].

1911C: Ruth Parchment, a visitor , aged 15, with her uncle Henry Frederick Parchment in Newton Road Sudbury .

1918. Ruth Parchment married Guy Cothran 7/12/1918, St. Mary, Whitechapel, .Witnesses her father & sister, Theodora, now, Lewis.

1955. Ruth Cothran died 1955.?? - but cannot find this death!

1926 Eleanor Parchment married Charles H Morgan Jun 1926 Stepney. They prob. had Vera V. Morgan Jun 1927 Pancras 1b 90 & John R Morgan Sep 1934 Romford 4a 810.. The Morgans have an Ancestry Public Member tree with just 70 people on it.: have sent a message Oct 2012 .

1976 Eleanor Morgan died 1976, Newham, birth given as 19/9/1900.
