Nothing known of him other than he was a carpenter & died before his son’s, David, marriage in 1852.
As son David ~1831 was born in Cork, Ireland, so presumably was John & he no doubt died there too.

Foonotes.
I just found the baptism of an Elizabeth Tobin August 1 1830 in Kilworth, County Cork. Parents listed as John Tobin and Mary Ellard. Sponsors are John Ellard & Nancy Quinlan (who I believed married George Ellard and had children baptised in Kilworth, County Cork). I noticed on one of your web pages that David & Maragret Buckly Tobin had witnesses of Kellard at their wedding. Probably just a coincidence but remove the K from Kellard and you get Ellard which is my family. Email Oct 2011 from Scott.
The only clue we have is that David's wife, Margaret Buckley, states she comes from Kilnakle in the 1871C. Kilnakle does not exist. Should it read Kilmichael?, of which there are several!, but main one to east of Inchigeelah. And, as David married Margaret in England, they might not have come from the same area in Cork anyway!
I have got Tobin Genealogy from Kerry Guinea, Australia, giving her Tobins that come from Tipperary. - stored in emails
