Demise of the property of Mr Samuel Hands of Chilson Oxon
This is the last Will and Testament of Me Samuel Hands of Chilson in the
parish of Charlbury in the County of Oxford Yeoman which I do hereby
make publish and declare and by virtue of which I bequeath unto my Son
James Hands of the parish of Saint Mary Magdalen in the City of Oxford
Yeoman All those Mesuages or tenements gardens stables barns Outhouses
Lands Hereditaments and premises belonging unto me and in
my present possession And also all the Commons, right of Common
pasturage thereunto as belonging and appertaining situate lying and
being in Chilson aforesaid in the parish of Charlbury or else where in
the said County of Oxford which said mesuages and tenements ... have
descended for many generations from time immemorial in my family and
were given unto me by my late father Together with all other lands and
premises belonging unto me and all other property whether in [fee simple or
reversion ?] subject nevertheless to the proviso and condition that
the said James Hands shall and will for the legall possession thereof at
the expiration of twelvemonths from my decease pay the hereinafter
named legacies, (that is to say) I give and bequeath unto my son William
Hands now abroad the sum of Five pounds lawful current Money within
one twelvemonths after the return of the said William Hands - I also
give unto my daughter Charlotte, wife of Richard Robinson of the parish
of Saint Ebbe, in the City of Oxford Yeoman
the sum of five pounds lawful
Money And unto my daughter Jane, wife of Harris Shayler of Broad Street
in the aforesaid City of Oxford Poulterer, the sum of five pounds good
Money and unto my Grandaughter Charlotte Hands now living with me the
sum of five pounds - each of which legacies shall be paid by the said
James Hands as herein before mentioned And also give and bequeath unto
the said James Hands, All those my household goods and effects
whatsoever unto me belonging in the aforesaid parish of Charlbury or
elsewhere And I do by virtue of this my last will and testament make
nominate and appoint the said James Hands sole Executor thereof - In
witness whereof I do hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty sixth
day of June in the Year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and
twenty nine.
